Where the jobs are
The market on our database leans heavily toward English-speaking and Western economies — a direct result of which ATS platforms companies use. The United States alone accounts for well over half of all postings with a known location.
IT isn't number one
If you assume job boards are mostly software roles, the data says otherwise. Across postings with a labelled industry, Sales & Business Development leads by a wide margin, followed by operations and healthcare. Information Technology & Software sits only in fifth place — a reminder that the hidden job market is far broader than tech.

It's tempting to read this ranking as a sign of the times. The categories dominating hiring — Sales, Operations, Healthcare, Education — are the ones built around human judgement, persuasion and care. The category sitting surprisingly low, IT & Software, is also the one where AI is automating routine work fastest.
We want to be careful here: this snapshot measures what's open, not why. It doesn't prove AI is displacing software roles — that would need trend data we'll only have over time. But the question is worth sitting with. If AI keeps absorbing routine technical and support tasks, the jobs that remain may increasingly be the human-facing ones. This snapshot is based on 2,115,446 live job postings collected directly from companies' applicant tracking systems (ATS), covering 229 countries, captured on June 26, 2026. Country figures reflect postings with an identified location; industry figures reflect postings carrying an explicit industry label. Because the database refreshes daily as companies open and close roles, exact numbers shift over time.
